ECE Undergraduate Design Projects

"When I look back, this will be the most valuable thing I did in college"

-Nathan Pagel (EE '03), who designed a quieter headset for ECE 4406

"It's a unique experience for ECEs to begin applying what they've learned to a comprehensive, high-level design project..."

-Matthew Anderson (CPE '04), team leader of Tech's 2003 IEEE hardware design contest team.

Design projects are often the most remembered, most fun experiences for engineering students.

Course-Based Design Projects

For EE and CPE students, design projects are woven throughout the curriculum. Following the introduction of simple design problems in sophomore classes, students design increasingly complex devices and systems. In addition, EE students are required to take one design-intensive "Capstone Design" course during their senior year. CPE students are required to take two "design technical electives."

Extra-Curricular Design Projects

The ECE faculty also encourages all students to join extracurricular design projects.
